The Doors of Perception

An experimental, site-specific animation film reimagining the aesthetic and psychological dimensions of the Weimar Republic, staged in the intimate subterranean spaces of The Ditch at Shoreditch Town Hall. This immersive work explored fractured identities, shadowplay, and the poetics of decay through projected animation, sound, and space.

Created collaboratively by Karolina Bielskyte, Luisa Cruz, Ewan Schwarz, and Alex Coad, the film was conceived in dialogue with an original electronic composition by Rockey Sun Keting.

Over three nights, audiences navigated a labyrinth of film, architecture, and sound, where the ghosts of modernism whispered through peeling walls, refracting themes of surveillance, vulnerability, and resistance.
